Zion, IL – Man Fatally Struck While Crossing Sheridan Road
Zion, IL (November 4, 2025) – A tragic accident in Zion claimed the life of a man in his 50s on Monday evening after he was struck by a vehicle while reportedly crossing the road, authorities confirmed.
The Zion Fire Rescue Department and Zion Police Department responded around 5:46 p.m. to reports of a vehicle crash with injuries near 33rd Street and Sheridan Road. When emergency crews arrived, they discovered a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.
According to initial reports, the man had been attempting to cross the intersection when he was hit. Officers arriving on the scene found the victim unconscious and not breathing. They immediately began CPR, and paramedics soon took over lifesaving efforts before transporting the man to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
Despite their efforts, the Lake County Coroner’s Office later confirmed that the victim, a Beach Park resident in his 50s, was pronounced dead in the emergency room. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was called to assist with crash reconstruction and a full investigation into the circumstances of the incident. As a result, Sheridan Road was temporarily closed between 31st Street and 33rd Street while investigators examined the scene and collected evidence.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the Zion Police Department had not released further details regarding whether the driver remained at the scene or if any charges would be filed. The investigation is ongoing.
