What Can I Do After a Car Accident in Zion?
After a car accident, you must prioritize a medical check-up, secure a copy of the police accident report, and avoid discussing the details of the crash with insurance adjusters until you have clear information about your rights.
Late-night accidents often involve high speeds, which can cause internal injuries or concussions that don't show symptoms right away. Even if you were assessed at the scene, you should follow up with a doctor or urgent care.
Also, have a medical professional document your condition within 24–48 hours to create a clear link between the crash and your injuries, thus making it harder for insurance companies to deny your claim later.
The police report will be an extremely important piece of evidence. It will list the officer’s findings on who had the right-of-way and whether any citations were issued.
This report acts as an objective account that prevents the other driver from changing their story once they talk to their insurance company.
Shortly after the crash, you will likely receive a call from the other driver's insurance adjuster. They may seem helpful, but their goal is to gather information to reduce their payout.
You are not required to give a recorded statement immediately. It is often safer to simply state that you are still seeking medical treatment and will provide more information once your injuries and the facts of the local police investigation are fully understood.
