Highland Park, IL (November 23, 2025) – A child was hospitalized on Thursday, November 20, after being hit by a vehicle while riding a bicycle through a crosswalk on Route 41, according to local authorities.
The Highland Park Police Department and Highland Park Fire Department responded around 5:22 p.m. to the intersection of Route 41 and Park Avenue following reports of a collision involving a young cyclist and a mid-sized SUV. Officials said the child, who was riding a mountain bike, was traveling westbound across Route 41 using the marked crosswalk when the crash occurred.
The driver of the SUV stopped right away and called 911, staying at the scene and fully cooperating with first responders. When emergency crews arrived, they found the juvenile awake and able to explain the injuries they were feeling.
